Looking for an exciting and unique travel and service opportunity? This December, come join Kehillat Israel in a Tikkun Olam project unlike any other. In a time where our world is fast becoming a global community, it is our responsibility to reach out to the farthest corners of the world to give of ourselves. On this trip, we will not only experience the authentic and rich culture of Costa Rica but also participant in community service work which supports both the indigenous population and the land upon which they live. Throughout the program we will have an unforgettable experience – adventuring through the Costa Rica landscape, connecting with the local people, and participating in Tikkun Olam projects. As the Talmud teaches, “Acts of loving kindness outweigh all other religious precepts.” Holiness can be achieved by the acts we do for others. Join us for a week of adventure and service. Rabbi Hanish and his family will lead this international service mission. Our guide will be CREER Co-Founder and KI Congregant Joshua Canter.
Throughout the program you will have an unforgettable experience. You will adventure through the Costa Rica landscape, connect with the local people, and do outreach work. During the program you will participate in several service projects* including potential projects such as: planting trees, working at the local school, renovation/construction of a local building (ie. school, community, center, church), caring for endangered turtles, cleaning the beach, and sharing our individual gifts – art, music, dance and sports — with the local villagers. You will lodge in rustic cabins and dorms. Our programs will take place in two different rural villages. Site #1 will be in a small village in the mountainous region of Costa Rica and Site #2 will be located at the beach village of Matapalo in the central pacific region of Costa Rica .

Service Projects
The CREER Service Organization continually strives to do in depth research to understand the true needs of the people in the villages of Costa Rica which we visit. Because of this, the service projects that we will partake in on this trip will not be known until 2-3 months prior to the trip when we assess the current needs. In most villages we will have the opportunity to work in 3 different areas:
-renovation on a primary structure in a village
(ie. the school, community center, church, medical center)
-work on the land (reforestation, planting gardens, compost, etc.)
-Inter-cultural Exchange
(working and sharing with the children and families in the villages)
